2.     Strategic Advice for the Remnant –

Imitating Jesus

Every Christian is predestined and called to become Christ-like. (Rom. 8:29, 30).

As Christians, we are renewed in the image of God and are being transformed more and more into the likeness of Christ. (2 Cor. 3:18; Col. 3:9-10; Eph 4:22-24).  Some of us are easy learners but most of us resist giving up our old ways and have to go through trials and struggles – we have to learn the hard way.

Jesus calls us to become more like Him by imitating Him; He calls us to walk as He walked.  We are to imitate Him by loving one another. (John 13:34-35; John 15:12).  We are also to imitate Him by having a humble, self-sacrificing attitude and when someone wrongs us we are to follow His example and not retaliate or seek to get revenge. (1 Peter 2:20-21).

Christ-like obedience is the way to a Christ-like enjoyment of divine love, and the way to have your joy made complete.

Our hope of one day seeing Jesus face to face and being perfectly conformed to His image is a tremendous motivation for seeking to live like Christ here and now.

It takes a lot of courage to show your dreams to someone else.

And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set here in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.  Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?  This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him.  But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.  So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.  And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.  And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.  When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?  She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

4. Thoughts for Meditation

LIVING BY FAITH – HOLD FAST TO THE GOOD; AVOID EVIL

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 NIV

Test all things; hold fast what is good.  Abstain from every form of evil.

Have you ever taken a close look at your life - examined it carefully?  I have.  And it's quite a revelation.  There are so many things in our lives that we allow to stay because they've always been there.  We're comfortable with them.  They make us feel normal... at home.  But when we really look at them, are they good?

I have a tendency to be a "couch potato" sometimes.  I flip on the television, prop my feet up, and just stare at that little electronic box - because it's there.  I'm not even really being entertained.  I'm just staring at it.  One day, I took a real look at the things I was watching. They weren't Christian programming.  They were sitcoms and movies and news shows.  Nothing overtly bad about that, right?  But as I examined each one of them, I realized that most of them carried very subtle messages - messages that were contrary to the Word of God.  And sometimes, messages that ridiculed the Word of God.  Without thinking about it, I was feeding evil into my soul in the guise of relaxation.

Now, let me assure you, I didn't throw my television out the back door - because television itself is not evil.  And I didn't stop watching sitcoms or movies or news shows.  Because I do need time to relax.  And there's nothing wrong with being a "couch potato" once in a while.  But I am much more selective in the programs that I watch for relaxation, concentrating on those shows that have wholesome content, rather than those with subtle messages that try to turn me away from the Word of God.

Take a look at your life today.  What areas need attention – need examination for their content?  Take this step in learning to live by faith and pray for a discerning spirit... so you will be able to cling to that which is good and abstain from every form of evil.

It was all greek, mysterious and intimidating to me.

I paid to have a web site built – cost me a lot of money. But the good thing (I thought) was I could maintain it and add to it myself through a control panel.

This was supposed to save me money – but guess what – I could never get it to work properly. Way to difficult and complicated to understand.

The site looked good but no traffic came and it was a waste of time and money!  After four years I had to get rid of the site and find another way.
