13 Ways to Overcome Evil (when others wrong you):

1. Seek to privately communicate with the person who has wronged you.
   1. Matt. 18:15 – If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you.  If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. . .

2. If you can’t get the matter settled, take one or two with you.
   1. Matt 18:16 – But if he will nolt listen, take one or two othersw along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.

3. If that doesn’t work, tell it to the church; seek help there.
   1. Matt. 18:17 – If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or tax collector.

4. Bless those who persecute you.
   1. Rom. 12:14 – bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse.

5. Paul tells us how to overcome evil and how to react when someone wrongs you.
   1. Rom. 12:17-21 - Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. Therefore, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

6. Do not seek revenge.
   1. Rom. 12:17 - Do not pay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.

7. Pursue peace with everyone.
   1. Rom. 12:18 - If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

8. Overcome evil with good.
   1. Rom 12:21 - do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

9. Imitate Jesus by suffering wrongfully, if need be; in no way should you try to get even.
   1. I Peter 2:21 - Two this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

10. Love your enemies and do good to them.
    1. Rom. 12:20 – “. . . if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.

11. Turn the other cheek; be kind to the person who has wronged you.
    1. I Thess. 5:15 - Make sure that no body pays back wrong for wrong, but always tried to be kind to each other, and to everyone else.

12. Do not testify against your neighbor, nor seek revenge.
    1. Prov. 24:28,29 - Do not testify against your neighbor without cause, or use your lips to deceive. Do not say, “I'll do to him as he has done to me; I'll pay that man back for what he did."

13. Moses gave a practical example of what to do after one has wronged you.
    1. Exod. 23:4,5 – “If you come across your enemies ox for donkey wandering off, be sure to take it back to him. If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help him with it. . . "

Where to Go For Comfort

When you are in trouble, where should you go first for comfort? Since God is our ultimate comfort, his word is our greatest resource for the comfort we seek. God's word is as close as our fingertips, and God himself is as close as our whispered prayer.

God gives comfort:

When we grieve - Psalms 23:4; Matthew 5:4.

When we are discouraged - Psalms 147:3

When we are overwhelmed - Exodus 14:13; Psalms 145:14

When we are persecuted - John 16:33; 1 Peter 5:7

When we are rejected – Isaiah 41:10

When we are afraid - Genesis 26:24.

When we are ill - Psalms 41:3

and when we are in the midst of conflict - Psalms 138:3

The amazing thing is that those who are comforted by God become the comforter for others. That is the role God has for us. As he comforts us in our time of trouble, so we are then able to comfort others because we have walked in their shoes.

The Lord is good.  When trouble comes, He is a strong refuge.  And He knows everyone who trusts in Him!  Nahum 1:7

LIVING BY FAITH – BE PREPARED FOR AND EXPECT THE BEST

1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

But as it is written:

      “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
      Nor have entered into the heart of man
      The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

This is a beautiful promise!  And it's made to every one of us who believe in Jesus as our Savior and love Him with all our hearts and all our souls and all our minds.  He has things prepared for us that we cannot even imagine!  And this doesn't mean we have to wait to get to heaven to enjoy some of them.

You hate your job.  The people you work with are all difficult to deal with.  Your boss is a pain in the neck, to put it mildly.  You've been praying that God will help you find another job, but nothing happens.  Instead, try asking Him to solve your problem at work in a miraculous way – in a way you haven't even thought of.

You are unemployed, and haven't been able to even get an interview, much less a job.  And all of your money is gone.  You've prayed and prayed for God to help you find a job, but God seems to be silent.  You are at the end of your rope.  Instead of "tying a knot and hanging on" like the platitude tells you to do, ask God to solve your problem in a way that you could never imagine.  And then relax and let God work.

You've made the mistake of getting romantically involved with someone who is not a Christian.  Now you're so involved, you've fallen in love.  But the relationship falls far short of what you want.  In fact, it's pretty lousy.  However, before you began dating this person, you were so lonely you almost lost your mind.  The thought of ending the relationship is terrifying.  So you keep praying that this person will accept Jesus, thinking that this is the only way to solve the problem.  But nothing happens, and the relationship gets worse and worse.  Pray that God will solve the problem in a way that you can't even imagine, then allow Him to work.

Your spouse has been behaving in ways that you just can’t tolerate any more – doing things that are hurtful, and harmful, to your relationship, not to mention to your mutual witness for the Lord.  You’ve tried talking to him/her, but have gotten nowhere.  In fact, your talks seem to have made the situation worse instead of better.  Pray that God will solve the problem in a way that you can’t even imagine.  Then let go, and let Him go to work.

Do you have a problem in any area of your life that you can't seem to solve?  Take this step in learning to live by faith, and pray that God will solve it in a manner that you can't even imagine.  Pray that He will pour forth blessings on you that are beyond anything you could ever conceive.  And pray that you will have the willing spirit to recognize those blessings and glorify His name through them.

End times watch. According to the Warsaw newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, Washington plans to scrap its plans to deploy anti-missile bases in Poland and the Czech Republic for defense against attacks from Iran. In deference to adamant opposition from Moscow, the Obama administration is looking at alternatives including Israel and Turkey.
