Israel? -

In end times watch 50, writers and speakers such as Lance
Lambert, and a few others, have been reminding us for some time that eventually
Israel will be separated from her long-time best friend and benefactor, the
United States. When we heard such words, most of us agreed that it would happen
sooner or later, but did not think it would be soon. Now, however, there are
some indications that under the new US government it could happen more quickly
than any of us thought.
There are numerous indications that President Obama wants
to warm up to the Arabs in general, and the terrorist-sponsoring ones in
particular. End times watch! This is demonstrated, for example, in his
willingness to talk to Hamas and Syria, and even Iran (though strictly speaking,
the Iranians are not ethnically Arabs). All of this is “part and parcel of his
apparent belief that the principal reason that the Arab and Islamic worlds are
hostile toward the US is because the US supports Israel” (Carolyn Glick, JPost,
February 23). And therein lies the danger. Clearly, the Obama government wants
to improve relations with the Arab world. If the President sees Israel as the
main roadblock to that goal, it is believed that he will either try to
manipulate Israel to his own ends, or, if Israel proves intransigent, eventually
abandon her.
John Kerry’s visit to Syria and Secretary of State
Clinton’s planned participation in a conference in Egypt to raise money for
Hamas-controlled Gaza are strong indications of the direction the new US
government wants to go. But perhaps one of the clearest signals of that
direction is the planned appointment of former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia
Charles W. Freeman, Jr., as director of the National Intelligence Council.
Freeman is known for his strong antipathy toward Israel. In numerous public
statements he has placed most of the blame for Arab and Islamic hostility toward
the US on Israel, and he has argued that the US’s problems with the Arabs will
disappear the minute the US abandons Israel. End times watch.
In one such statement in 2007, Freeman, who praises Hamas
for being "democratically elected," said, "Those in the region and beyond it who
detest Israeli behavior, which is to say almost everyone, now naturally extend
their loathing to Americans. This has had the effect of universalizing
anti-Americanism, legitimizing radical Islamism, and gaining Iran a foothold
among Sunni as well as Shiite Arabs" (JPost, February 23).
By defending itself against its Arab enemies, Freeman
argues that Israel has earned their wrathful retaliation! This, he contends,
also places Americans in danger. "Such retaliation—whatever form it takes—will
have the support or at least the sympathy of most people in the region and many
outside it. This makes the long-term escalation of terrorism against the United
States a certainty, not a matter of conjecture" (JPost Feb 23).
So Freeman, whom Obama may appoint to a high government
post, wants to abandon Israel—not that he alone can actually bring this about.
But he will be highly influential if he is appointed director of the National
Intelligence Council.
