Who
is the Spirit?
And when Jesus came up out of the water, he
saw the heavens split open and the Spirit descending like a dove on him.
And a voice came from heaven saying, "You are my beloved Son, and I am fully
pleased with you." Mark 1:10-11
Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)
But the Helper, the Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and
bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26 (NKJV)
"But when the Helper comes,
whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from
the Father, He will testify of Me. John 15:26 (NKJV)
The grace of the Lord Jesus
Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Spirit be with
you all. Amen. 2 Cor. 13:14 (NKJV)
Elect according to the
foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience
and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be
multiplied. 1 Peter 1:2 (NKJV)
For there are three that bear
witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Spirit; and these three
are one. 1 John 5:7 (NKJV)
While
the word “Trinity” (meaning three) is not used in the Bible, it is clear from
the above Scriptures that from the One God there are three manifestations: God
the FATHER, God the SON, and God the SPIRIT; so the Holy Spirit is the
third part of the One God Head.
2. How Do You Receive The
Spirit?
By being born again.
Jesus answered, "Most
assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot
enter the kingdom of God. John 3:5
By faith, not by works nor by
law.
This only I want to learn
from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing
of faith? Galatians 3:2
By obeying God.
And we are His witnesses to
these things, and so also is the Spirit whom God has given to
those who obey Him." Acts 5:32
By repentance.
Then Peter said to them,
"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for
the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Spirit.
Acts 2:38
By the baptism of the Holy
Spirit.
And being assembled together
with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait
for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me;
5for John truly baptized
with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from
now." Acts 1:4-5
For as the body is one and
has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one
body, so also is Christ. 13For
by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks,
whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.
1 Cor. 12:12-13
