HOW TO Persevere in Prayer
HOW TO PERSEVERE IN PRAYER HOW TO PERSEVERE IN PRAYER Persevering in prayer is NOT having long, drawn out prayers. If you are trying to do that you will get sleepy and run out of things to pray. A Praying Life RATHER, persevering in prayer is having a conversation with Jesus. One good way to do this is by: · telling Him you love him, · repenting of your sins, · asking Him to cleanse you and purify you, · asking Him to fill you with his Word and quoting back to Him your favorite Scriptures, · asking Him to fill you with the Light of His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2). · Then offering prayers for others or for the situation of concern needing the attention of the Lord. · When you have prayed all that then BE STILL AND LISTEN; imaging being in His presence. Go to the Prayer Times in the Tabernacle page for instruction in praying through the tabernacle. You can learn to abbreviate this prayer so it can be prayer quickly. You just need a little practice. My book Transformation: The Missing Piece has an excellent section about the tabernacle and praying through it into the presence of God. If you get sleepy, change your routine – go for a walk and pray while you are walking, or go for a drive and pray while you are driving – use your imagination on what you can do while you pray. Don’t try to be holy and pious about HOW YOU PRAY – JUST DO SOMETHING WHERE YOU CAN HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH JESUS. The prayers do not have to be long; they need to be a conversation with your best friend and counselor. Have a conversation OFTEN THROUGHOUT THE DAY; try talking to Jesus every chance you get. How To Pray You don’t have to be alone and on your knees, you can be wide awake, alert and engaged in life; no one needs to know you are praying in your mind and FROM YOUR HEART, that is, with your whole being of intention. It is just like talking with sincerity and honesty to a friend, only in your thoughts and not out loud. Persevering in prayer also means that you don’t pray once or twice or for one or two weeks then stop praying for that thing for which you are praying. When Heaven is Silent Daniel prayed 21 days before an angle appeared to him with an answer. When the angle appeared he told Daniel that from the very first day Daniel SET HIS HEART TO PRAY, HIS PRAYER WAS HEARD, BUT THE DEMON PRINCE OF PERSIA detained him in a spiritual war and the angle had to wait to be relieved by the angle Michael before he could come to Daniel. (Daniel 10:10-13) What we learn from this is that we do not know what is going on in the heavenlies or the spiritual realm that may be delaying an answer to our prayers. Also persevering in prayer means we pray until an answer is received (which can be short prayers from the heart over a period of many years if need be). It does not necessarily mean praying a long time in one setting.
