Scriptures on Disappointment from the Word of God.
Psalms
43:5 (NIV)
5 Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my
Savior and my God.
Psalms 55:22 (NIV)
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he
will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Psalms 119:67-68 (NIV)
67 Before I was afflicted I went
astray, but now I obey your word.
68 You are good, and what you do is
good; teach me your decrees.
Psalms 119:71-72 (NIV)
71 It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I might learn your decrees.
72 The law from your mouth is more
precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.
Psalms 119:75-76 (NIV)
75 I know, O LORD, that your laws are
righteous, and in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
76 May your unfailing love be my
comfort, according to your promise to your servant.
Scriptures on Disappointment
Psalms 126:6 (NIV)
6 He who goes out weeping, carrying
seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.
Proverbs 15:13 (NIV)
13 A happy heart makes the face
cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
John 14:27 (NIV)
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I
give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be
troubled and do not be afraid.
1 Corinthians 4:8-10 (NIV)
8 Already you have all you want!
Already you have become rich! You have become kings--and that without us! How I
wish that you really had become kings so that we might be kings with you!
9 For it seems to me that God has put
us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like men condemned to die
in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as
well as to men.
10 We are fools for Christ, but you
are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are
dishonored!
Scriptures on Disappointment
Hebrews 12:5-11 (NIV)
5 And you have forgotten that word of
encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the
Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines those
he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God
is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?
8 If you are not disciplined (and
everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true
sons.
9 Moreover, we have all had human
fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we
submit to the Father of our spirits and live!
10 Our fathers disciplined us for a
little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we
may share in his holiness.
11 No discipline seems pleasant at
the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness
and peace for those who have been trained by it.
James 1:2-4 (NIV)
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers,
whenever you face trials of many kinds,
3 because you know that the testing
of your faith develops perseverance.
4 Perseverance must finish its work
so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
