Scriptures on Self Control from the Word of God.
Proverbs
4:23-26 (NIV)
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for it is the wellspring of life.
24 Put away perversity from your
mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead,
fix your gaze directly before you.
26 Make level paths for your feet and
take only ways that are firm.
Proverbs 25:28 (NIV)
28 Like a city whose walls are broken
down is a man who lacks self-control.
Proverbs 29:11 (NIV)
11 A fool gives full vent to his
anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.
Romans 13:14 (NIV)
14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the
Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the
sinful nature.
Scriptures on Self Control
1 Corinthians 9:25 (NIV)
25 Everyone who competes in the games
goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we
do it to get a crown that will last forever.
1 Corinthians 16:13 (NIV)
13 Be on your guard; stand firm in
the faith; be men of courage; be strong.

love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control.
Against such things there is no law.

Scriptures on Self Control
1 Timothy 6:11-12 (NIV)
11 But you, man of God, flee from all
this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and
gentleness.
12 Fight the good fight of the faith.
Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good
confession in the presence of many witnesses.
2 Timothy 2:3-5 (NIV)
3 Endure hardship with us like a good
soldier of Christ Jesus.
4 No one serving as a soldier gets
involved in civilian affairs--he wants to please his commanding officer.
5 Similarly, if anyone competes as an
athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to
the rules.
Titus 2:2-6 (NIV)
2 Teach the older men to be
temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and
in endurance.
3 Likewise, teach the older women to
be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine,
but to teach what is good.
4 Then they can train the younger
women to love their husbands and children,
5 to be self-controlled and pure, to
be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one
will malign the word of God.
6 Similarly, encourage the young men
to be self-controlled.
Scriptures on Self Control
1 Peter 1:13 (NIV)
13 Therefore, prepare your minds for
action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you
when Jesus Christ is revealed.
2 Peter 1:5-6 (NIV)
5 For this very reason, make every
effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
6 and to knowledge, self-control; and
to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;
